El Basquedokfestival es un encuentro entorno a las diferentes narrativas documentales que se encuentran presentes en el ámbito de la fotografía y las artes visuales
Queremos dar visibilidad a los proyectos, a las historias que conforman un ecosistema ecléctico, que nos interpela y nos hace reflexionar sobre diferentes realidades. Desde el conceptualismo a la denuncia de la violencia de genero. Desde la narrativa poética de la imagen a los cambios sociales y políticos que nos rodean.
La III Edición del Basquedokfestival ha sido posible gracias al apoyo de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales y de la información Ehu/upv de Leioa, a la Escuela de fotografía Blackkamera, al Ayuntamiento de Bilbao, la Diputación Foral de Bizkaia y Gobierno Vasco. También agradecer el apoyo a Canon Europa, al Hotel Domine Bilbao y a tantos otros colaboradores, sin los cuales no sería posible realizar este encuentro.
En la tercera edición del festival internacional de fotografía de Euskadi se hará entrega del Basquedoksaria UPV/EHU 2022 a la fotógrafa norteamericana Donna Ferrato, por su trabajo en la denuncia de la violencia de genero, así mismo participan artistas de la talla de Richard Kalvar, miembro de la Agencia Magnum, la fotógrafa contemporánea de moda Eliska Sky, el fotógrafo neoyorkino Gus Powell, la fotoperiodista hispano-palestina Maysun, la artista Gabrielle Duplantier o la fotógrafa franco-americana Eleonore Simón
El listado de invitados lo completan la artista vasca Bego Antón, la fotógrafa documental Scarlett Coten o el fotógrafo David Salcedo. Además incluye una exposición sobre el Punk, de título “Ansia” del fotógrafo David Arribas o la pieza experimental de José Bautista en los Cines Golem y de título, “Aiyéniariwo”. un documental de 60 minutos, con paisajes sonoros que recorren el planeta, sin imágenes.
Todos/as los/as profesionales y fotógrafos/as amateur así como el alumnado y profesorado de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales y de la información que participan han renovado nuevamente su apoyo y confianza. Queremos también hacer extensible este apoyo al sector por parte de las instituciones, para que continúen impulsando una iniciativa que a medio plazo se convertirá en uno de los referentes europeos de la fotografía
El Basquedokfestival tiene el cometido de consolidar una oferta dentro del ámbito de la fotografía creando sinergias con otros sectores públicos y privados que tengan la misma sensibilidad hacia estos eventos que tanto aportan al sector cultural de Bilbao y por ende del País Vasco.
El sector no está pasando por un buen momento, y por este motivo debemos aunar esfuerzos y diseñar estrategias que modifiquen esta tendencia. Que nuevos sectores jóvenes se acerquen a la fotografía y vean en ella una oportunidad profesional para desarrollar una carrera con futuro.
Queda mucha tarea por delante, pero estamos muy ilusionadas con el futuro y si todos/as empujamos en la misma dirección lo conseguiremos.

The BasqueDokFestival is an encounter that revolves around the different documental narratives that are present in the field of photography and visual arts.
We want to give visibility to projects, to the stories that make up an eclectic ecosystem, which interpellates us and makes us reflect on the different existing realities; from conceptualism to the condemnation of gender violence, from the poetic narrative of the image to the social and political changes that surround us.
It has been possible to celebrate the 3rd edition of the BasqueDokFestival thanks to the support of the UPV/EHU Faculty of Social and Communication Sciences of Leioa, the photography school Blackkamera, the city council of Bilbao, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, and the Basque Government. We would also like to thank Canon, the Hotel Domine Bilbao, and many other collaborators, without whom this conference would not be possible.
In the third edition of the international photography festival of the Basque Country, the Basquedoksaria UPV/EHU 2022 will be given to the North American photographer Donna Ferrato, for her efforts to denounce gender violence. Moreover, other renowned artists are also participating, such as Richar Kalvar, a member of the Magnum Agency; the famous contemporary photographer Eliska Sky; the New Yorker Gus Powell; the Hispano-Palestinian photojournalist Maysun, the artist Gabrielle Duplantier, or the Franco-American photographer Eleonore Simón.
The guest list is completed by the Basque artist Bego Antón, the documentary photographer Scarlett Coten, or the photographer David Salcedo. Besides, it includes an exposition about Punk, entitled “Ansia” by the photographer David Arribas or the experimental piece of José Bautista entitled “Aiyéniariwo”, at the Golem cinemas. It is a 60-minute documentary composed of soundscapes that travel the planet, without images.
All the professionals and amateur photographers, as well as the students and teachers of the Faculty of Social and Communication Sciences who are participating, have renewed once again their support and trust. We would also like to make extensible this support to the sector by the institutions, for them to continue promoting an initiative that in the middle term will become one of the European benchmarks in photography.
The BasqueDokFestival has the mission to consolidate an offer inside the field of photography, creating synergies with other public and private sectors that have the same sensitivity towards these events, which contribute so much to the cultural sector of Bilbao and, therefore, to the Basque Country.
The sector is going through a hard time. Thus, we should join efforts and design strategies that will modify this tendency. Strategies that will make freshly created sectors interested in photography; making them see it as a professional chance to develop a carrier with future.
There is still a long way to go, but we are very excited about the future, and if all of us push in the same direction we will make it.
